The draw for the quarter-finals of this year’s Chatham Cup has turned up four juicy ties to help celebrate the 100th year of football’s oldest cup competition.
Features of the draw are:
- Both Waikato sides, Melville United and Hamilton Wanderers, have avoided each other and are drawn at home.
- Western Springs and Eastern Suburbs are both drawn away — unlike their women’s teams who have drawn home ties in the semi-finals of the Kate Sheppard Cup.
- Otago’s Roslyn Wakari, the lowest-ranked remaining team in the cup, have avoided a long trip, and will host Wellington’s Waterside Karori.
The draw was made by newly-appointed All Whites head coach Darren Bazeley.
