Northern region pauses community football to enjoy FIFA Women’s World Cup

Northern Region Football will pause most community football games on Saturday to allow footballers to attend the Eden Park match between the world-champion United States team and Vietnam.

“USA v Vietnam is the only Eden Park match that falls on a Saturday afternoon, so we’re pushing pause on most of our community football for one day, allowing our football whānau of all ages to be part of a huge crowd at Eden Park on Saturday to experience this once in a lifetime occasion together,” said NRF CEO Laura Menzies.

In a statement on the eve of the tournament, NRF said:

“NRF encourages everyone in the football community to get a group together and get to Eden Park to see world champions USA, based at East Coast Bays, take on Vietnam, who are based at West Coast Rangers.”
