Melville United goalkeeper Max Tommy will forever be remembered as the scorer of one of the Chatham Cup’s most memorable goals in its 100-year history.
As the 2023 Chatham Cup final entered its eighth minute of stoppage time, Melville trailed 2-1 to Christchurch United.
The Waikato side were awarded a free kick just outside the Christchurch penalty area.
With nothing to lose, Tommy ran forward to join his Melville teammates in front of goal.
