Update: Coughlan and Bouzouki end up level in Golden Boot again

Cashmere Technical striker Garbhan Coughlan and Wellington Olympic’s Gianni Bouzoukis have finished level for the second year in a row in the race for the Men’s National League’s Golden Boot.

After the latest round of games, it appeared Coughlan had won the award with 11 goals but a late change to records for Round 8 has credited Bouzoukis with another goal.

In that game, against Auckland City, Wellington Olympic’s first goal was awarded as an own goal but it has since been listed as a Bouzoukis goal.

The two strikers finished level last year, tied on nine goals.

This year, Bouzouki (25) scored twice in the final minutes of his side’s last game, a 4-2 win against Wellington Phoenix Reserves.

Coughlan scored for Technical in the 86th minute in his side’s 5-1 defeat at Eastern Suburbs.

The Golden Boot excludes any goals scored in Sunday’s Grand Final between Auckland City and Wellington Olympic at Auckland’s Go Media Stadium Mt Smart.

Meanwhile, the Golden Boot for the Women’s National League has been won by Western Springs’ Sophia Garcia.
