Striker Josh Tollervey has left the Wellington Phoenix to sign for Melbourne club Preston Lions.
Tollervey (20) played last season for the Phoenix reserves in the Men’s National League, having joined the A-League club’s academy five years ago.
The Preston Lions were recently announced as one of the eight foundation clubs of the new Australian National Second Division to launch in 2025.
Till then, the Lions will continue to play in the Victoria Premier League.
Announcing his signing, Preston Lions said: “We eagerly anticipate his goalscoring flair and passion for the game, which align with the spirit of our club. We’re thrilled to have him and look forward to a season filled with triumphs!”
England-born Tollervey was with the Plymouth Argyle Academy before emigrating to New Zealand and playing his youth football with Waikato clubs Cambridge and Melville United.
In 2019, he moved south to play for Lower Hutt City and to begin his association with the Wellington Phoenix.
