Young Wellington Phoenix forward Josh Tollervey signs for Auckland United

Striker Josh Tollervey has left the Wellington Phoenix to sign for Northern League club Auckland United.

Tollervey was set to sign for Melbourne club Preston Lions at the start of 2024 but opted instead for a switch to the Auckland club.

Tollervey (20) played last season for the Phoenix reserves in the Men’s National League, having joined the A-League club’s academy five years ago.

The Preston Lions were recently announced as one of the eight foundation clubs of the new Australian National Second Division to launch in 2025.

England-born Tollervey was with the Plymouth Argyle Academy before emigrating to New Zealand and playing his youth football with Waikato clubs Cambridge and Melville United.

In 2019, he moved south to play for Lower Hutt City and to begin his association with the Wellington Phoenix.
