Ferns midfielder Annalie Longo makes return with Cashmere Technical

New Zealand international and Wellington Phoenix captain Annalie Longo has returned to competitive football with a goalscoring appearance for Canterbury’s Cashmere Technical.

After an injury-disrupted season with the Phoenix and the Football Ferns, Longo (32) has signed with Cashmere Technical who will compete in the South Island Women’s League for the winter season.

She scored in Technical’s 8-0 win against Universities of Canterbury in the final qualifying round for the South Island competition. Technical have finished top of their qualifying league.

Longo has made 133 full international appearances for the Ferns but withdrew from the squad for February’s OFC Women’s Olympic Qualifier tournament in Samoa as “a precaution to avoid aggravating a calf strain.”
