Three Football Ferns playing in Denmark’s Superliga will have to wait till later in the season before any can claim bragging rights for their clubs.

Defender Claudia Bunge and midfielder Daisy Cleverley play for HB Køge who drew 0-0 at FC Nordsjælland, who left new signing Malia Steinmetz out of their matchday squad.

The match, played on Sunday September 3 (NZT), was the second of the season for both clubs.

Bunge (23) went straight into the starting line-up for HB Køge after joining from A-League club Melbourne Victory.

Ferns midfielder Malia Steinmetz (24) has agreed a two-year contract with Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjælland after playing for Western Sydney Wanderers in the women’s A-League, and having been a regular starter in the New Zealand team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ahead of Sunday’s match that brought the New Zealanders together, Bunge told NewstalkZB sports host Jason Pine how her move to Denmark came about, and the style of football she expects she and her Ferns teammates will play there.
