Former All White Mark Cossey makes switch from Rovers to Papamoa

Papamoa have appointed former All White Mark Cossey as their first-team coach for next season.

Cossey (57), joins the Bay of Plenty club for its first season in the newly-established Lotto NRFL Southern Conference.

He moves to Papamoa after leaving Claudelands Rovers who will also play in the Southern Conference.

Rovers will be coached by Paul Richardson who was Cossey’s assistant last season.

Announcing Cossey’s appointment, Papamoa FC said next season would be the first that the club had competed at NRFL level with a men’s side, though the club had fielded a women’s Northern Premier League team almost 10 years ago.

Cossey, who has an NZF/OFC B Licence, said: “The club has grown hugely over recent years. I have been around the football scene for a number of years and can see an enormous upside.

“The fact the club is creating partnerships outside of itself for the benefit of all speaks volumes. The partnership with TCAFC and the development of FC Tauranga Moana will be integral to the growth and development of our footballers in this region.

“The scale alone, when compared to any other WaiBOP clubs, offers endless possibilities.”
