Dave Fahy to lead North Shore United’s next NRFL Championship campaign

North Shore United have named Dave Fahy as their head coach for their 2024 Lotto NRFL Championship season.

Fahy (37) was the club’s U-23 coach and assistant coach for the first team last season, and is a former first-team player at the club.

He replaces last season’s head coach, Dylan Burns.

Announcing Fahy’s appointment, United’s high-performance group convenor, Steve Browning, said he believes Fahy will continue last season’s progress in developing high-quality young players, as well as producing attractive winning football aligned to the club’s vision.

“Dave brings a strong football background and connection to the club, having joined NSU as a first team player in 2011, through to captaining the team in 2017,” the club says.

“Work commitments then saw him spend two years with Birkenhead in 2018 and 2019 as their strength and conditioning coach.

“The time was right for Dave to return to NSU in 2023 as U-23 and then first team assistant coach. A real buzz created by the new coaching group for players and supporters alike, with Dave’s training legendary among the players, and a key to the style of football played.

“Results and the final league placing was a testament to the quality of football played, as was the introduction of a number of U-20 players to men’s football.

“The club would also like to thank Dylan Burns, 2023 head coach, for his contribution to the club.”
