Otumoetai ready to compete in NRFL Women’s Championship and W-League

Otumoetai have named the coaches to lead their top women’s teams who will compete this year in the Lotto NRFL Women’s Championship and the WaiBOP W-League.

Nathan Metzger will coach the first team in the NRFL Championship and Carl Newby will continue as the club’s W-League head coach.

The club says its Football Development Officer, Jack Boland, will be more involved in the women’s space, following his first year with the club, to continue supporting the pathway for female players and linking the pathway by assisting with the first team.

President Phil Mulligan said:

“Off the back of a very successful 2022 for women’s football in the club, we are very excited to see what 2023 brings.

“The chance to participate in a new league creates a big challenge and exciting opportunities for the players, staff and everybody else involved.

“We feel we are in a great position off the back of having two teams in the W-League not just to compete but also sustain strength in the women’s game through our depth of players.

“The coaching team have done a fantastic job getting women’s football to this point on an upwards journey over the past few years and we look forward to seeing where this continues to take us in the future.”
