Takapuna appoint Robert Matherson as U-23 head coach for Northern League season

Northern League club Takapuna have named Robert Matherson as the head coach for their men’s U-23 reserves side.

Matherson joins from Hibiscus Coast where he was last season’s U-23 team coach.

“I enjoy the development and transition and players within the range 16 to 23 years old. The role at Takapuna is a really exciting development and fits neatly into my skill set,” he told Takapuna’s club newsletter.

After playing for English semi-pro clubs such as Haringey Borough, Enfield Town and Brimsdown Rovers, Matherson moved into coaching with roles at Ipswich Town, Stowmarket Town and Whitton United.
