In-form Daniel Faure got Ranui Swanson off to a winning start in their 3-2 win against Lynn-Avon United in the NRF Men’s Championship.
Faure’s opening goal — his fifth in his last six games — created the breakthrough after Lynn-Avon had held out Ranui Swanson for the opening half hour of Friday’s floodlit match at Ranui’s Sparling Park.
But Nathaniel Hastings scored Ranui’s second goal in the 41st minute to give them a 2-0 half-time lead in their last home game of their season.
Lynn-Avon fought back in the second half with Ryan Cozett reducing the deficit to 2-1 in the 49th minute.
Ranui brought John Mudwanga off the bench in the 83rd minute and four minutes later, he made it 3-1.
The visitors had time for one more goal, Cozett’s second of the game, as the game entered stoppage time, but Ranui took the points.
Papatoetoe and Central United, the top two teams in the competition, both play on Saturday.
