Ferns captain Ali Riley wins Players’ Player of the Year award for Californian club

Football Ferns skipper Ali Riley has been named her club’s Players’ Player of the Year after her first season with Californian club Angel City FC.

The Los Angeles-based club joined the National Women’s Soccer League this year, finishing eighth in its debut season.

Riley (34) is the captain of the Angels, as well as leading the New Zealand Football Ferns.

She made 11 appearances for the Angels, scoring twice, after joining them from Orlando Pride.
