Eastern Suburbs unveil more imports, and national age group signings

Only 24 hours after announcing three top-level signings, Northern League club Eastern Suburbs have confirmed news of five more new players, including two European imports and two age group internationals.

The two imports are midfielder Joe Jeremiah (19) who has arrived from English sixth-tier club Gloucester City, and striker Juan Bautista Marchini (26) who has been playing in Switzerland.

The age group signings are striker Adam Supyk (18) and midfielder Josh Galletley (19), both of whom played for New Zealand U-20s at the recent PSSI Invitational Tournament in Indonesia.

Supyk was previously with Lower Hutt City and the Wellington Phoenix reserves, while Galletley played last season for Melville United.

The fifth signing is forward Jayden Scott (21) who rejoins Suburbs after four years away, playing for East Coast Bays, Napier City Rovers and, most recently, Bay Olympic.

These five follow the earlier signings of All White Francis de Vries, Olympian Adam Thomas and Uruguayan striker Martin Bueno.

Striker Juan Bautista Marchini: From Argentina to Switzerland to Suburbs

Striker Juan Bautista Marchini began his career as a youth player with Argentinian club Estudiantes Rio Cuarto, making his first team debut in Primera Nacional (series B Argentina).

In 2019, he headed to Europe were he joined Italian Serie D side Real Vicenza but quickly moved to Swiss club Sementina. Apart from a brief stint with another Swiss club, FC Paradisio, Marchini returned to Sementina and helped them win their second division title in the 2021-22 season, scoring 10 goals.

Marchini — wearing 77 in the pale blue strip — scored Sementina’s second goal in their game against Morbio, which you can see here:

Marchini moved to another Swiss club, AS Minusia, before heading to New Zealand.

Midfielder Joe Jeremiah: A bid to play for New Zealand U-20s

New Zealand-born Jeremiah (19) was born in New Plymouth but has lived in England since he was four, and has learned his football at Cheltenham Town, the Newport County academy, Forest Green Rovers and Gloucester City, who play in the sixth-tier National League North.

He was most recently on the books of Bishops Cleve, who he joined on loan from Gloucester.

Jeremiah recently indicated he was looking at a move to Eastern Suburbs in a bid to get the attention of national U-20 selectors.
